Basketball Recap: Parkland Comes Up Short

Parkland suffered their closest loss since February 6th on Saturday. They fell just short of the Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix by a score of 58-56. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Phoenix are ranked 105th).

When it comes to explaining why Parkland lost, don't look at Brock Jackson. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points and six rebounds. Jackson's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Scott (Tre) Walker was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Parkland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Winston-Salem Prep, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Parkland will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Parkland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully East Forsyth likes a good challenge.
