The Valparaiso Vikings will head out to face off against the Warsaw Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Valparaiso is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Valparaiso is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Illiana Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Illiana Christian by a score of 4-3.
Valparaiso got a good showing from Aiden Wyatt, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Wyatt a new career-low.
At the plate, Valparaiso saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Dilley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. Grant McFarden was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Warsaw didn't have quite enough to beat Concord on Friday and fell 9-8.
Grady Nelson and Jack Bradford stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nelson went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Bradford went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That run was Bradford's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kael Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Valparaiso's record now sits at 10-4. As for Warsaw, their record is now 3-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Valparaiso has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Warsaw struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Valparaiso got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Warsaw by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
