Baseball Recap: River Dell Takes a Loss

River Dell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bergenfield Bears. The Golden Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

River Dell got a good showing from Michael DeGroat, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits DeGroat has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, Nathan Silverstein was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Mellaci, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

River Dell's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Bergenfield, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-13.

Looking ahead, River Dell will challenge Park Ridge at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Bergenfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
