Softball Recap: Canyon View Beats Emery for Their Third Straight Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Canyon View ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Emery Spartans. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Spartans back in March, they had to take a 8-7 loss.

Alina Sluder was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Payton Castillo was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Canyon View, bringing their record up to 6-15. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Emery, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon View will venture away from home to challenge Cedar at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Reds have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Emery, they will challenge Duchesne at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
