Basketball Recap: Tyler Harris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Downey over Bellflower

Downey fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Bellflower on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. Downey lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyler Harris, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Harris has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 18 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Earl Santos, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points.

Downey's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 15-8. As for Bellflower, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

Downey will challenge Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bellflower, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-53 victory against South Pasadena on the 18th.
