Baseball Recap: Lewis County's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Lewis County brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They never let the Bracken County Polar Bears get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Cayden Stevenson looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyran Ferguson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Conner Plank, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Lewis County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bracken County only posted a batting average of .000.

Lewis County's win bumped their record up to 4-18. As for Bracken County, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Lewis County will be playing in front of their home fans against Bath County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Wildcats have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Bracken County, they will take on Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
