Basketball Recap: E.E. Smith Falls Short of Jacksonville in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact E.E. Smith can now relate to. They lost 67-46 to the Jacksonville Cardinals on Tuesday. The Golden Bulls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

It was another big night for Kelize Velez-Galan, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards for Jacksonville. That's the most rebounds Velez-Galan has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Izabella Hernandez, who earned 20 points and six assists.

E.E. Smith's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Jacksonville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

E.E. Smith does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jacksonville, they will square off against Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Rocky Mount sitting on 17 straight victories and Jacksonville on four.
