Baseball Recap: Carroll Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Carroll duked it out with Gregory-Portland on Friday. The Tigers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Carroll saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Prince Roland, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Emilio Escobar also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Gregory-Portland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Carroll will welcome King at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Gregory-Portland, they will host Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Eagles a seven-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
