Football Game Preview: Northside Methodist Academy Knights vs. Slocomb Red Tops + How To Watch

Northside Methodist Academy is 0-3 against Slocomb since September of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Red Tops at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Northside Methodist Academy was beaten by Montgomery Academy 62-6. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Eagles are ranked 95th).

Meanwhile, Slocomb came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 28-20 win over Geneva on Friday. The game was the first time the Red Tops have beaten the Panthers on their field since October 19, 2018.

Northside Methodist Academy better focus on containing Hayes Hatton and Weston Sasser as the pair were huge in Slocomb's win. Hatton gained 142 total yards and three touchdowns, while Sasser threw for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Sasser a new career-high in rushing yards (49).

Northside Methodist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Slocomb, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Northside Methodist Academy lost to Slocomb at home by a decisive 40-21 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Knights, Cade Birge (who rushed for 180 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 195 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes) won't be suiting up this time.
