Basketball Recap: Cactus Shadows Takes a Loss

After soaring to 59 points the game before, Cactus Shadows was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Mesquite Wildcats, falling 89-21. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mateja Cousins was Cactus Shadows' leading scorer, having posted nine points. Cousins also led the team in rebounds with five. Maddie Schultz took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Navae Guidry was her usual excellent self, going 13-for-17 to rack up 28 points along with seven boards and six assists for Mesquite. The matchup was Guidry's 12th in a row with at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Fisher, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

Cactus Shadows' defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Mesquite, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-1.

Coming up, Cactus Shadows will head out on the road to face off against Saguaro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cactus Shadows is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. Mesquite does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
