Baseball Recap: Red Mountain's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Red Mountain entered their tilt with Mountain View on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Toros a 7-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mountain Lions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Red Mountain got a great performance from Maddox Loria as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Loria has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kale Thorson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Red Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Red Mountain pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-10.

Red Mountain will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Toros: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
