Softball Recap: Middleburg Takes a Loss

Middleburg's last matchup with Baker County could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. The Broncos came up short against the Wildcats, falling 7-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 28, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Middleburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Ficklin, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Middleburg moved to 13-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Baker County, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season.

Middleburg will square off against Ponte Vedra at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Baker County, they will be playing at home against West Nassau at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.3, the Warriors 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
