Volleyball Game Preview: Lafayette Lions vs. Southside Sharks + Official Tickets

Lafayette has won six straight games at home, while Southside has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Lions will welcome the Sharks at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Lafayette won the last time they faced Westminster Christian Academy and Brae'Ona Smith did her part to make sure it happened again. The Lions blew past the Chargers 3-0 on Thursday with plenty of help from Smith, who had 11 digs and four aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lafayette took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-15, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Southside made easy work of Acadiana on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Southside's got stronger as the match went on, holding Acadiana to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-14, 25-13.

Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Southside, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
