Baseball Game Preview: Kutztown Cougars vs. Northwestern Lehigh Tigers

The Kutztown Cougars will face off against the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kutztown 2.4, Northwestern Lehigh 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, Kutztown didn't have quite enough to beat Hamburg and fell 4-2. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Northwestern Lehigh had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Pirates. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Cannon Fitch, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Zimmerman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Fitch wasn't the only one making solid contact: Northwestern Lehigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palisades only managed six hits.

Northwestern Lehigh's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Kutztown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
