Baseball Recap: Chester Victorious

Chester won against Carlyle on Thursday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Yellowjackets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Okawville Rockets a 3-0 shutout. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Evan Dunning's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chester is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Ethan Colvis was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one double. TaShawn Palacio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Chester's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Okawville, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Looking ahead, Okawville will head out on the road to challenge Nashville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chester will be paying especially close attention to the Rockets' matchup: after the Rockets face off against the Hornets, they'll take on Chester again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
