Baseball Game Preview: iMater Charter Knights vs. Sports Leadership & Management

The IMater Charter Knights will head out on the road to square off against Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. IMater Charter's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Sports Leadership & Management's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

IMater Charter made up a huge gap compared to their last game against JC Bermudez Doral, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights blew past the Thunder 10-4 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Angel Perez looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alejandro De La Vega, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Erick Padilla was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against South Broward, falling 11-4.

IMater Charter has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

IMater Charter took their win against Sports Leadership & Management when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
