Softball Recap: Yellow Medicine East Wins Going Away Against Dawson-Boyd

Yellow Medicine East hadn't done well against Dawson-Boyd recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Sting put the hurt on the Blackjacks with a sharp 13-2 win. The Sting might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Bayli Sneller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Keller and Alana Almich did most of the damage at the plate: Keller went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Almich went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave Almich a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Paslowski, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Yellow Medicine East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Yellow Medicine East's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Dawson-Boyd, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
