Volleyball Recap: Navarre Raiders vs. Pace Patriots

Navarre and Pace squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Navarre had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Pace Patriots by a score of 3-2. That makes it the first time this season the Raiders have let down their home crowd.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Navarre sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 31-33, 15-9.

Katelyn Weller paced Navarre's offense, picking up 24 kills. Weller got some help from Anna Wagner and her 29 assists. Finally, Demitria Watts kept Navarre's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Pace found their leader in freshman Liv Riffell, who had 26 digs and five aces. The dominant performance gave Riffell a new career-high in aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Hines, who had three digs and 18 assists.

Navarre's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 20-8. As for Pace, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-7.

Navarre does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pace, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Gulf Breeze at 6:00 p.m. Gulf Breeze will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Pace surely won't give up without a fight.
