Softball Recap: Galva Takes a Loss

Galva had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-4 to make it six. They lost 16-2 to the Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 10-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Galva saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylyn Gale, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Lily Wigant also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Abingdon/Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

On Abingdon/Avon's side, they got a massive performance out of Taylor Ford, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Ford has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Gunther, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Abingdon/Avon beat Galva by a score of 13-3 later that day.
