Baseball Game Preview: Grassfield Grizzlies vs. Forbush Falcons

The Grassfield Grizzlies will head out on the road to square off against the Forbush Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Grassfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Forbush's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Grassfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Fairfax on Friday as they made off with a 16-4 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Grizzlies with their most commanding win of the season.

Christian Coley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Coley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Giacomo Franco was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Grassfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Cayden McBride was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs.

Grassfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Forbush came up short against Churchville-Chili on Friday, falling 9-3.

The win got Grassfield back to even at 5-5. As for Forbush, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
