The Rio Americano Raiders will challenge the Ponderosa Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rio Americano has five straight wins, Ponderosa has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Rio Americano's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Reed with a sharp 10-0 victory.

Everett Filippo was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Will Parilo was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Rio Americano always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Ponderosa fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Christian Brothers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4.
Joe Stevens was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tommy Texdahl was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Maddox Chapman also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Rio Americano pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Ponderosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Rio Americano came out on top in a nail-biter against Ponderosa in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Rio Americano repeat their success, or does Ponderosa has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
