Basketball Recap: Aliceville Takes a Loss

If Aliceville was feeling good fresh off their 89-17 takedown of Isabella last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Aliceville Yellowjackets lost 59-39 to the Greene County Tigers on Friday. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Greene County found their leader in sophomore Janyria Hutton, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 assists. Hutton has been hot, having posted eight or more assists the last seven times she's played. Za'Kyia Manning was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Aliceville's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Greene County, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aliceville will venture away from home to challenge University Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Aliceville is facing University Charter at the right time seeing as University Charter is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Greene County has already played their next matchup (against Demopolis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
