Baseball Recap: Tri-Unity Christian Takes a Loss

Tri-Unity Christian dropped their record down to 6-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-4 to the Zion Christian Mountaineers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Defenders have suffered since May 16, 2024.

As for Zion Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-6. The result was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Zion Christian's part, Ian DeRuiter was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs DeRuiter has posted since back in April. Colter VanDyke also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Unity Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Martin at 10:00 a.m. on the 31st. As for Zion Christian, they will square off against Lee at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
