Baseball Recap: Medina Beats Wilson for Their Third Straight Victory

Medina barely beat Wilson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lakemen a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Brody Fry was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan Papaj, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Carter Woodworth was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Medina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilson only posted an OBP of .118.

The victory (which was Medina's third in a row) raised their record to 16-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Wilson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Medina will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakemen: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
