Baseball Recap: Gateway Has No Trouble Against Gateway Charter

Gateway won the last time they faced Gateway Charter and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Gateway Eagles blew past the Gateway Charter Griffins 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brady Miller tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Hardman, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Gateway: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Anthony Medina was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Gateway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway Charter only managed four hits.

Gateway is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.8 runs. This is the second loss in a row for Gateway Charter and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Gateway has already played their next game, an 8-0 win against East Lee County on the 6th. As for Gateway Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-8 victory against Lehigh on the 6th.
