Highland is a perfect 10-0 against Eastside since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 3:15 p.m. Highland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
On Tuesday, Highland made easy work of Knight and carried off a 12-3 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Paisley Memory made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Aubrey Reyes was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Evalina Chavez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, Eastside entered their game against Lancaster on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lions came up short against the Eagles, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since March 20th.
Bethanie Jimenez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Highland pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Highland hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eastside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Highland skirted past Eastside 10-9 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
