AA District 10 recap September 17, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Ladarrious Wimberly and Chavaris Newsome connected against Christ Presbyterian Academy. The connection was good for 91 yards, the longest such play in AA District 10 this season.
Lipscomb Academy scaled the state rankings by moving to 43 from 80 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs climbed the ranks as a result of topping White House 31-6.
East Nashville Magnet's dynamic duo of Isiah Upton and Patrick Smith proved to be unstoppable against Westmoreland, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Upton threw for 345 yards and 3 touchdowns and Smith had 185 yards receiving. Isaiah Olige helped East Nashville Magnet's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 65 yards.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Upton and Smith proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He was 15-22 with 1 interceptions.
Deandre Tigg was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 188 yards as Lipscomb Academy bested Westmoreland. Teammate Luke Simpson added to the ground attack by rushing for 46 yards.
Upton put up the best numbers through the air as Brian Waite's team defeated the Eagles.
Smith was the best wideout in AA District 10 this week as the Eagles beat Westmoreland.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, East Nashville Magnet's Upton and Smith have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Upton has thrown for 791 yards this season, while Smith has 18 catches for 345 yards. Tigg from Scott Tillman's team leads the league in rushing with 826 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Pearl-Cohn takes on the Mustangs. The Firebirds are in third place, while Lipscomb Academy is in first place.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Mustangs beat the Blue Devils 31-6,. The victory was the fourth in a row for Lipscomb Academy.
