Softball Game Preview: Dimond Lynx vs. Chugiak Mustangs

Dimond is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will face off against the Chugiak Mustangs at 7:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dimond is headed out to face Chugiak after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Lynx had just enough and edged out Bettye Davis East Anchorage 9-8 on Saturday.

Dimond's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Belle Cavazos, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Chugiak made easy work of Juneau-Douglas last Thursday and carried off a 15-1 victory.

The team relied heavily on Isabel Sjostrand, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn McCormick was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Chugiak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juneau-Douglas only posted an OBP of .400.

Dimond couldn't quite finish off Chugiak when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Lynx avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
