Softball Recap: Tonopah Valley Phoenix vs. Benjamin Franklin Chargers

Tonopah Valley had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-12 to make it six. They came up short against the Benjamin Franklin Chargers, falling 26-16. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (13), the Phoenix still had to take the loss.

Tonopah Valley got a massive performance out of Shiloh Walker, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Hayden Simpson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Benjamin Franklin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.

On Benjamin Franklin's side, they got a massive performance out of Jaelyn Castaneda, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Castaneda is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Madison Sigourney was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Tonopah Valley will head out on the road to challenge Chino Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Benjamin Franklin, they will welcome Bourgade Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
