Softball Recap: Fleming County Takes a Loss

Fleming County extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 9-18. They lost 7-0 to the Tates Creek Commodores. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Commodores apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Tates Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Tates Creek's part, Alexis Bazzell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Bazzell a new career-high. Hannah Jones was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Fleming County and Tates Creek could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Panthers will square off against Male at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (128 vs. 29). Meanwhile, Tates Creek (ranked 62nd) will meet Greenup County (ranked 13th) at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.
