Volleyball Recap: Cumberland Comes Up Short

Cumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ashland Oredockers. While the Beavers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Oredockers 25-11 in the first set.

Cumberland started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 11-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-15.

Raegan Beecroft paced Cumberland's offense, picking up seven kills. Beecroft got some help from Kaylee Jackson and her 12 assists. Hailey Paulson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Cumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-25. As for Ashland, the win snapped their losing streak at seven matches and leaves them with a 3-14 record.

Cumberland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Amery on the 11th. As for Ashland, they will head out on the road to take on Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
