Basketball Game Preview: Maconaquah Braves vs. Tri-Central Trojans

The Maconaquah Braves will venture away from home to face off against the Tri-Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Maconaquah is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 71 points on Saturday, they were much more limited against Oak Hill on Tuesday. They fell 31-21 to the Golden Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Maconaquah had strong showings from Delaney Betzner, who posted six points, and Addie Maiben, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, Tri-Central ended up a good deal behind Clinton Prairie on Tuesday and lost 52-34.

Tri-Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Maconaquah, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Maconaquah against Tri-Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 63-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maconaquah since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
