Basketball Recap: Hagerman Has No Trouble Against Hansen

Hagerman hadn't done well against Hansen recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hagerman Pirates put the hurt on the Hansen Huskies with a sharp 77-57 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Martin Gonzalez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 13 of 19 on his way to 28 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (67%). Another player making a difference was Ky Kendall, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and six steals.

Hagerman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Hagerman's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Hansen, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Looking ahead, Hagerman will face off against Lighthouse Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hagerman is facing Lighthouse Christian at the right time seeing as Lighthouse Christian is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. Hansen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
