Baseball Recap: Hialeah Gardens Has No Trouble Against American

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Varela, Hialeah Gardens was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the American Patriots with a sharp 10-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Gladiators have posted against the Patriots since March 15, 2018.

Not much got past Ryan Valdes, who gave up just a hit to keep American off the board. Valdes is becoming a predictor of Hialeah Gardens' success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Andrew Gonzalez and Jerry Sosa did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sosa scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI Gonzalez has posted since back in April of 2024. Jose Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hialeah Gardens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Hialeah Gardens' win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for American, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Hialeah Gardens will head out on the road to take on Miami Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for American, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Somerset Academy at 3:30 p.m.
