Basketball Recap: Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Falls Despite Big Games from Kadence Vanover and Blanca Martinez

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 55-45 to the Lakeview Academy Lions on Tuesday. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Eagles who fell 61-59 when the teams previously met back in December of 2019.

Blanca Martinez and Kadence Vanover certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Martinez dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Vanover went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points. Martinez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Lakeview Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee will be playing in front of their home fans against Asheville School (Independent) at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Asheville School (Independent) is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season. As for Lakeview Academy, they will face off against Loganville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
