Softball Game Preview: Zephyrhills Bulldogs vs. Sunlake Seahawks

Zephyrhills hasn't had much luck against Sunlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Zephyrhills Bulldogs will take on the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. Zephyrhills has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Zephyrhills is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Wesley Chapel on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to the Wildcats. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Sunlake was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mitchell. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sunlake got a good showing from Sydney Walker, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Sunlake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Lively, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Lively a new career-high.

Sunlake moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Zephyrhills, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
