Volleyball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield lost against Northridge back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Falcons fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-2. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-16 in the first set.

Fairfield took Northridge into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, 15-10.

Northridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Molly Nickell, who had 12 digs. Another player making a difference was Izzy Melvin, who hit 70% for seven kills and eight digs and one block.

This is the second loss in a row for Fairfield and nudges their season record down to 9-8. As for Northridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.

Fairfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against West Noble on the 25th. As for Northridge, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against NorthWood on the 25th.
