Softball Recap: Garey's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Yucca Valley, Garey was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Montclair Cavaliers.

Miley Diaz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tatiana Navarro, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Valerie Jimenez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Garey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montclair only managed nine hits.

Garey's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5. As for Montclair, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Garey will venture away from home to face off against Sultana at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sultana's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Garey's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Montclair, they will welcome Don Lugo at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
