Basketball Recap: Randolph Southern Comes Up Short

Randolph Southern lost against Wes-Del back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the Randolph Southern Rebels and the Wes-Del Warriors didn't end well, with the Randolph Southern Rebels falling 64-49. The Rebels just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Randolph Southern lost, don't look at Donavon Shinaver. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Dylan Shinaver was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Randolph Southern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Leading Wes-Del to victory were Josiah Love and Julian Carpenter. Love went 15 of 24 on his way to 35 points, while Carpenter went 6 for 11 en route to 21 points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Love a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Becerra, who posted no points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Randolph Southern's record is now 4-8. As for Wes-Del, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-8 record.

Randolph Southern will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Daleville at 7:30 p.m. Wes-Del has already played their next contest, a 60-52 loss against Cowan on the 1st.
