Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Gibsonburg

If Woodmore wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Gibsonburg, they should've done a better job of containing Elly Evarts. The Gibsonburg Golden Bears walked away with a 53-41 victory over the Woodmore Wildcats on Monday thanks in part to Evarts, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 12 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Gibsonburg's points.

Another player making a difference was Ansley Fleming, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Gibsonburg and bumps their season record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points over those games. As for Woodmore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-7.

Coming up, Gibsonburg will be taking part in a tournament against Van Buren at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gibsonburg is facing Van Buren at the right time seeing as Van Buren is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Woodmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
