Basketball Recap: Rhyver Tibbs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wayne City over Webber

Wayne City lost against Webber back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wayne City Indians came up short against the Webber Trojans, falling 63-43. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while the Trojans are ranked 183rd).

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhyver Tibbs, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Harrison, who posted ten points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Wayne City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Webber's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Waylon Jones, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Marlow, who put up 14 points.

Wayne City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Webber, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Wayne City will face off against Edwards County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Webber, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-51 defeat against Goreville on the 30th.
