Basketball Recap: Northwood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Honaker last Friday, Northwood came back down to earth. The Northwood Panthers took a 73-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Scarlet Hurricanes: they've now lost eight in a row.

Northwood's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Marion, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Northwood and Marion could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Northwood will take on Patrick Henry at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 214 places (352 vs. 138). Meanwhile, Marion (ranked 276th) will meet Graham (ranked 73rd) at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
