Softball Recap: Althoff Catholic Takes a Loss

Althoff Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the East St. Louis Flyers.

Catherine Gross and Karson Spencer did some serious damage despite the final result: Gross scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4, while Spencer scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alayna Hattan, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Althoff Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Althoff Catholic is headed away from home for the first time to take on Civic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East St. Louis, they will head out to face off against Dupo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
