Basketball Game Preview: Godwin Eagles vs. Prince George Royals

Godwin is 0-3 against Prince George since January of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Godwin Eagles just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Prince George Royals at 7:30 p.m. Godwin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Prince George likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Godwin earned a 68-55 victory over Thomas Jefferson. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Vikings are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Prince George was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 78-31 defeat at the hands of Dinwiddie.

Godwin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Prince George, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.

Godwin couldn't quite finish off Prince George when the teams last played back in January of 2022 and fell 66-63. Can Godwin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
