Football Recap: Oxnard Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Oxnard extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a blow against the Bellflower Buccaneers, falling 35-7. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Adrian Guerra threw for 133 yards on 13 of 25 attempts. Jayven Aranda was his top target, picking up 77 receiving yards.

As for Bellflower, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 31.0 points this season.

Bellflower found their leader in freshman Austin Miller, who picked up 124 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 57 yards and one score on only five carries. Miller didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made three total tackles.

Oxnard will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rio Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Bellflower, they will face off against Whittier at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
