Softball Game Preview: Goldsboro Cougars vs. North Johnston Panthers

Goldsboro hasn't had much luck against North Johnston recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Goldsboro has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Goldsboro is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Farmville Central.

Meanwhile, North Johnston waltzed into their game on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Bruins get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Panthers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Samantha Boswell, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Mallori Woodard, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

North Johnston pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Goldsboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Goldsboro suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to North Johnston in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
