Softball Recap: Athens Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Athens won the last time they faced Royal Oak and things went their way on Thursday too. The Red Hawks came out on top against the Ravens by a score of 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Hawks.

Athens got a big performance out of Sommer Swanson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. Addison Cosgrove was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Athens pushed their record up to 13-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Royal Oak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-11-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will venture away from home to face off against Berkley at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Royal Oak, they will head out to challenge Troy at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
