Basketball Recap: Houston Mustangs vs. Wilson Tigers

On Sunday, the Houston Mustangs opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-42 loss to the Wilson Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 103rd in Tennessee, while the Tigers are ranked 28th in South Carolina).

Defeat or not, Houston got some senior leadership from Laila Mcnamee and Mckenzie Percoski. Mcnamee posted 16 points and six steals, while Percoski almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. That's the most steals Mcnamee has posted since back in February of 2024. Houston will take on Bartlett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Houston is facing Bartlett at the right time seeing as Bartlett is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Wilson, they will square off against Crestwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
