Softball Game Preview: Freedom Patriots vs. Legacy Charter Eagles

The Freedom Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Legacy Charter Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Freedom fell victim to Dr. Phillips and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0. The Patriots have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Freedom saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Legacy Charter lost 22-5 to Trinity Christian Academy.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Legacy Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Freedom has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Legacy Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Freedom couldn't quite get it done against Legacy Charter in their previous meeting back in February as they fell 11-6. Can Freedom avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
