Football Recap: Highland Runs Past Murray

Highland gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They enjoyed a cozy 28-12 win over the Murray Spartans. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Highland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

One reason for the win was Highland's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Van Bletzacker, Peter Conde, and Manase Wolfgramm, who each picked up one sack apiece. Highland received some extra help from Angstman, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The win got Highland back to even at 3-3. As for Murray, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Coincidentally, Highland and Murray will both be playing Juan Diego Catholic the next time they take the field. The Rams will host the Soaring Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Spartans will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th.
